Frozen Sweet Treat: Fun Pretend Play Ice Cream Ideas

Quick answer

Use the Frozen Sweet Treat wooden ice cream set to spark toddler role play and creativity. Set up simple pretend play activities that teach sharing, decision-making, and polite communication.

How to set up pretend play ice cream activities

1. Set up the ice cream stand: Place the wooden display stand on a low table or play mat. Arrange the scoops, cones, and toppings so your child can reach them easily. Let them decide which items go where. Common mistake: putting everything out at once can overwhelm a toddler. Start with just a few pieces and add more as they engage.
2. Take turns being the server and customer: Model polite ordering: "May I have a strawberry scoop, please?" Then switch roles. Encourage your child to ask questions like "What flavor do you want?" and to say "Here you go!" when serving. If your child is shy, start by being the customer yourself and narrating the process out loud. They will often join in naturally.
3. Add simple counting and color recognition: Ask your child to count how many scoops are on a cone or name the colors of the ice cream bars. This sneaks in early math and vocabulary practice without turning play into a lesson. Keep it playful. If your child resists counting, drop it and just enjoy the pretend play. The learning happens through repetition over time.
