My son has been mixing these extension pieces with his wooden train set all week, and the soft rubber lets him curve the road around furniture without it tipping over. The pieces click together snugly enough that his little city stays put during play.

The rubber tracks bend into curves that the wooden ones just can't do, so our little city finally has a proper roundabout. They click onto the old set fine, though I wish the box came with a few more straight pieces.

My kids have already built a bridge over the couch and a tunnel under the table with these. The rubber is thick enough to hold a curve without flopping over, which makes all the difference for their little hands. It's the first time our city layout has actually stayed intact for more than a day.
